Ely Hero Awards Ceremony 2023

Wednesday 20th September saw Miles of Heroes gather at The Maltings for Season 6 of Ely Hero Awards.
Finalists, Business Sponsors, Judges and Guests were invited to the Black Tie event to celebrate individuals in the community who have gone the extra mile. There are 10 Categories in which to be nominated and 3 Finalists per Category are shortlisted by the Judging Panel with 1 Finalist chosen as the Winner.
 
Special Guest, Mrs Sue Freestone, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire addressed the guests during the introduction of the Prestigious Award – THE Ely Hero, sponsored by Xpert Resourcing. The award is given to a person who has shown outstanding dedication, selflessness and altruism in the support of others. Mrs Freestone said “Ely Hero Awards is my favourite event of the year! As representative of the Crown in the County, I assure you that King Charles will hear all about Ely Hero Awards in the weekly report that is sent to the Palace!”
 
Guests were treated to chilled Prosecco and Canapes on arrival and then dinner at the table, fabulous entertainment was supplied by 4Dimension Dancers and Host for the evening was Sue Marchant, Local Radio Presenter. The aim of evening is to treat finalists and their guests in order to thank them for the fantastic way they support the community in Ely and surrounding villages.
 
Special Awards were given to The Child of Achievement – never a dry eye in the house during this presentation! Brave, bold and kind children in the community were awarded – Caitlin Child won the Award with Charlotte Gardiner, Cristina Verducci were runners up and the Jay Davison Award was given to 2 year old Teddy Woodhouse who has bravely endured multiple serious health issues. 
 
There are so many wonderful individuals who are carrying out acts of kindness who often go un-noticed for decades – Ely Hero Awards is very keen to discover these people so why not consider a worthy person for an award next year?
